Fifteen young workers gathered on May 22-23, 2012 in Antigonish, NS, to build their activist toolkits and lay the groundwork for young workers committees.
Participants investigated the experience of young workers in the workplace, the union and society and talked about how mobilize to challenge Harper’s assault on public services and program of austerity.
The highlight of the event was a panel that brought together Rebecca Rose, Maritime Organizer for the Canadian Federation of Students, Kyle Buott, President of the Halifax and Dartmouth District Labour Council, and Brigette DePape, activist, community organizer and notorious rogue page. The panel, entitled “Rules for Radicals: how labour, student and young activist movements are making change,” helped lay out tools, tactics and strategies for organizing to win.
