PSAC demands reversal of escalating federal cuts after 8,000 workers targeted for job loss
January 28, 2026
As the Carney government rushes ahead with mass public service cuts, PSAC is again raising the alarm about the impact cuts and subsequent job losses will have on the ability of the federal government to deliver critical services. Since January 7, 2026, over 8,000 PSAC members have received notice that their jobs are at risk, with significant impacts at Health Canada, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), Global Affairs Canada, and Transport Canada. Job cuts to departments like these threaten to slow service delivery, increase wait times for crucial benefits, reduce oversight and administrative capacity, disrupt critical research that informs policy making, and impact critical government operations.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day: Memory, dignity and justice
January 27, 2026
PSAC strongly condemns all forms of discrimination and hate, including antisemitism. Every worker deserves dignity, safety, and respect — in the workplace, in our union, and in our communities. As hate crimes and discrimination continue to rise, International Holocaust Remembrance Day reminds us that remembrance must lead to action. We all have a responsibility to speak out, challenge injustice, and stand in solidarity with those who are targeted today.
