The Western Area Women’s committee of PEI attended a Shower and Tea fundraiser for the first Women’s shelter “LifeHouse” being opened soon in Summerside.
The LifeHouse Transitional Housing and Emergency Shelter is the first shelter in Summerside for women and children. It was scheduled to open this fall but has been postponed until January 2022 due to delays in the renovations.
The mission for the shelter is to ensure women and children in the Prince County region have access to safe, secure, inclusive and supportive transitional housing and shelter while navigating life’s rough waters.
The committee is excited to see such a necessary support be available in the Summerside area and are looking forward to working with the shelter to see it succeed.
Prior to the event, some members of the committee attended a shopping party to purchase items requested on the event registry. It was very rewarding to see everything come together and be able to contribute knowing how much our gifts could mean to the many women and children that will benefit from the use of this shelter.
