The Halifax Human Rights Committee is Making a Difference to Orphaned Children in Africa

The Halifax Human Rights Committee was joined by Santa’s Little Helpers to support the campaign, Operation Christmas Child.”

Since 1993 this campaign has shared the simplest of gifts in a shoe box to children in poor areas of the world. (ONE BOX, ONE CHILD, ONE TIME). This year 322 shoe boxes were filled with a small toy, school supplies, hygiene items, clothing, candy and personal notes that will be sent to sections of Africa to help children who have been orphaned because their parents have died from AIDS. Many of the children are being raised by grandparents and other young children. The power of a simple gift is amazing.

The Committee would like to thank everyone who donated to the campaign and the on-going work of social justice and international solidarity.
