The Union of Veterans Affairs Employees (UVAE) Local 90001 includes over 800 members from the Office of the Veterans Ombudsmen and the Veterans Review and Appeal Board in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
Local members are in several buildings throughout Charlottetown and provide a wide variety of services to Veterans. Some of the benefits worked on by our members include: Career Transition services; Rehabilitation program; Financial Benefits Program; Disability Awards; Death Benefits; Detention Benefits; Clothing Allowance; Health Care Programs; Health Benefits Program; Education Assistance; VAC Assistance Service; Mental Health; Case Management; VAC Pastoral Outreach Program; Casualty Support Protocol; and Funeral and Burial Assistance.
Their Local is always keen to be involved in events promoting their union. They have held many rallies, plantgates, barbecues, special events, participated in pride parades, human rights events, indigenous days, fund raisers, food bank drives, as well as several “thank you” cakes and french fry truck as a special treat for their membership and all the work they do.
