I am pleased to be able to present my Director’s report for the above period. I took over from Corina Harding on June 8th so this is a relatively brief report.
I now sit on both the Council’s Education and Political Action Committees. I have been in email correspondence on the former and have agreed to speak at the Day of Action September 15 if that is required.
As this has been a brief period and during the summer I have only a few activities to highlight:
August 15, 2012 I participated in a teleconference on the future of the Gander regional office.
September 4, 2012 I participated in a teleconference on the report of a Harassment Investigation.
I am on the St. John’s Area Council but there were no meetings during this period.
I represent the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour on the Provincial Government, business, and labour Innovation Committee and met once during this period.
I represent the PSAC on the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour Political Action and Legislative Committee though there were no meetings of this (there never are).
As President of my union, with a new bargaining unit (Post Doctoral Fellows) soon to enter first contract bargaining, with our other bargaining unit (Per Course Instructors) going into contract bargaining this month, and being on both bargaining committees I have been very involved with that. I also have a full time job with the same employer but in another union.
In Solidarity,
Robert Lewis
