Once again it is an honour to be your director and to report on my activities for this period:
October – Attended PSAC council meeting on October 11 to 14 where I also chaired the Atlantic Health and Safety Committees Meeting. I attended the Union of Taxation Health and Safety Conference October 18-21.
November – Attended the CCPA briefings on job loss within the public service and its effects on our communities. I also attended the News Briefing held by CCPA in relation to the job loss at the Delta Hotel. As part of the UTE Tech Change Committee I attended meetings with
December – I participated in the PSAC Leadership summit held in Ottawa, where we did an early morning plant gate at Tunney’s Pasture. On the 21st I participated in the” Idle No More” rally at the world trade centre, HalifaxNS. December 19th I assisted the PSAC Human Rights project preparing packages for the homeless.
January – Attended an information session presented by Scott Sinclair of CCPA on Globalization, Trade Treaties and the effects on the Atlantic Canadian Fisheries
Also during this period I have remained in constant contact with MP’s, MHA’s and City Councillors concerning the effects that the Public Service job cuts have on our communities.
I also maintain a position as VP on the PSAC Area Council, UTE Tech Change Committee, Chair of PSAC Health and Safety Committee of the Regional Council and on several other committees within the workplace.
