PSAC Officially Endorses Michelle Neill for MP of Malpeque

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – As a rare instance, the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) is officially endorsing Michelle Neill as Member of Parliament for Malpeque. The union has never endorsed a political candidate in previous elections in the Atlantic Region. This is the first time that PSAC is endorsing a political candidate of any political affiliation.

Colleen Coffey, Regional Executive Vice President for the PSAC’s Atlantic Region explains the endorsement: ‘Michelle has a proven track record of supporting workers and issues affecting them. As a longstanding Union of Taxation Employees (UTE) and PSAC activist. She held many different roles within her unions in order to improve working conditions of her co-workers and fellow union members.’ Coffey adds: ‘She has also worked tirelessly with different organizations in her local community. For example, she volunteered with Wings on Ice Skating Club, the Charlottetown Figure Skating Club, Skate PEI, Hockey PEI, and she has taken a leadership role in several other organizations, including the North Star Minor Hockey Association, and most recently, MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving)-Central PEI’

In the coming weeks, Ms. Coffey will be visiting the riding of Malpeque to volunteer for Michelle Neill’s campaign.
