PSAC-Atlantic Regional Women’s Conference

We are pleased to announce that the Eleventh PSAC Triennial Atlantic Regional Women’s Conference will be held at the campus of St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia June 3 – 5, 2016.  The conference theme is “Reflecting, Refocusing & Rejuvenating – Our Voices & Energy”. Under this theme we will endeavor to strengthen the PSAC Women’s Program at the regional level through stronger connections between the Regional Women’s Committees, Council Representatives and local activists.
 
The conference will discuss domestic violence at work and what can be done at the Bargaining Table.  Special guest speaker is Maria Fitzpatrick, member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. “We are All affected by Domestic Violence: Solidarity makes us stronger”.  We are also pleased to have Barb MacQuarrie, Director, Centre for Research and Education on Violence against Women & Children at Western University.
 
This Conference is scheduled to begin Friday, June 3, 2016 with registration from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., followed by a Meet and Greet from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  Registration will commence again on Saturday June 4th, from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m., with the conference opening at 9:00 a.m. Saturday’s session will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the Sunday session will run from 8:30 a.m. to closing at 12:00 Noon.
 
Below is the registration information package which will provide additional details about the conference. Locals are encouraged to approach their departmental managers to request paid leave to allow women to attend this conference, as this conference will provide valuable educational opportunities.
