Harper welcomed by protesters in Fredericton, New Brunswick

May 15, 2014

FREDERICTON, NB – A greeting committee will be waiting for Prime Minister Stephen Harper as he is scheduled to make an announcement in New Maryland, NB.  Members of the New Brunswick Federation of Labour and the Fredericton District Labour Council will remind him that his government’s cuts to public services are too deep and shortsighted.

‘Prime Minister Harper’s government has already made too many cuts to essential public services such as employment insurance, help for our veterans and door to door mail delivery services’ said Patrick Colford, President of the New Brunswick Federation of Labour.

Members of UNDE/PSAC will also bring the same message to the Prime Minister when he travels to the airport.  ‘We want to ensure that Harper gets the message: STOP the cuts to public services!  If he didn’t get the message at his announcement, we will gladly remind him before he boards his airplane’ said Colleen Hodder, a local president of Union of National Defense Employees in Nova Scotia and Vice-President representing PSAC members on the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour.
