NB – PSAC members making a difference in their community

Our Greater Moncton Area Council along with other regional committees held a Social evening prior to the Holiday with the goal of raising funding for the Crossroads for Women Inc.

Through the sale of tickets and a silent auction, along with the collaboration of PSAC national, the committees were able to raise $4050 dollars among their PSAC Greater Moncton membership that was presented to the Crossroads for Women Inc.  Since 1981 Crossroads for Women has been empowering and assisting survivors of violence by providing education, resources, emergency shelter, counselling and crisis intervention 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for South Eastern New Brunswick. Crossroads for Women is the only domestic violence and sexual assault shelter in South Eastern New Brunswick for Women and Children.

Their mandate is to empower victims and survivors of violence and their families break the cycle of abuse by providing shelter and on-going support services, as well as public awareness and prevention programs. Sadly, one of the busiest shelters in New Brunswick, they are still more than 300 women and children fleeing domestic violence each year that needs their support.  Although they are getting some funding through Government funding, it represents only 60% and they need to raise 40% of their funding through fund raising.

Our committees are proud for having been able to make a difference – Thank you All – Together we can make a difference in our Community!
