Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Mental Health Awareness week is an annual national event that takes place during the first week in May (May 5-11) to encourage people to discuss, learn, reflect and get involved on all issues relating to mental health.
The more openly we discuss mental health and learn about it, the less stigma and discrimination will be associated with people with mental health related disabilities. The PSAC has been doing just this over the past few years. We have information on the PSAC web page on mental health at: http://psacunion.ca/topics/mental-health. Furthermore, at the last PSAC National Access Conference held during the PSAC National Equity Conferences, we had a speaker and a workshop for our members with disabilities who helped us to de-stigmatize and better understand mental health related disabilities.
