Front-Line Customs And Immigration Officers Rally For Fair Treatment

HALIFAX, NS – Members of the Customs and Immigration Union (CIU), a Component of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), will be distributing flyers to the public to bring attention to the importance of the work performed by the front-line men and women who, as Canadian Border Services Officers, keep our country’s borders safe, and deserve fair treatment.

WHAT: Information picket on border security

WHEN: Friday, January 19, 2018, 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM

WHERE: Corner of Cornwallis and Barrington Streets, Halifax, NS

After 3.5 years of bargaining, the employer is still pushing for concessions that devalues the work members of the FB Group (Border Services) perform on behalf of all Canadians, and continues to refuse to provide parity with other law enforcement agencies. These women and men are law enforcement, protect Canada’s borders, and deserve a fair contract.

An example of the flyer that will be distributed can be viewed here.

Joey Dunphy, 3rd National Vice-President of CIU, will be available for media interviews.
