April 1st - April 2nd

Credit Union Place, Summerside
Facilitator: Alex (Vital) Stuit
This two-day workshop is a follow-up to the previously delivered March 6, 2023 training session attended by local leaders.
We will provide advanced training specifically targeted to activists, leaders, local executive members, and picket/strike captains, who will be preparing and executing strike action/activities. This training is for those identified within the Locals as the organizers of strike actions. We will look at the various roles of members called out on strike, members who are not on strike, and members who are essential workers. We will develop collective and workable solutions to the major problems that striking workers face.
The goal of this training is to assist locals to formulate an action plan to organize their members, ahead of the strike vote and subsequent strike action. We will review the topics of Strike Administration and Responsibilities (strike structure, pickets and picket lines, essential services, and mobilizing for success) and our objective will be to develop a comprehensive PEI strike plan, identifying who will be the Picket Captains, Strike Captains, Area Coordinators, etc. at each of the identified or recommended picket line locations. Formalizing a PEI PSAC-UTE Regional Strike Coordinating Committee will be another objective and we will be working on a Draft strike budget in preparation of any possible strike action.
