Our Area Councils and Regional Committees (Women’s, Human Rights and Young Workers) were faced with quite the challenge these past few months. How do you operate in the midst of a pandemic? Well, they certainly adapted and continued their important work! The Committee Success Stories is designed to highlight the successful work accomplished by our various committees in the Atlantic Region.
The PSAC Regional Committees (Women’s, Young Workers and Human Rights)and Area Council in PEI along with the PEI Federation of Labour have supported an initiative to provide 200 pencil cases with pencils, pens, erasers, sharpeners, face masks, and bottles of sanitizer to the public-school branches on PEI this Fall.
In addition, 30 “window face masks” will be provided for teachers to use in classrooms that include children with hearing disabilities, so children can still see the teacher’s mouths while they speak (to assist with lip reading).
Debi Buell and Valerie Quinn delivered the school cases and face masks to the school board this week.
