**Application for this course has now closed**

The Atlantic Region of the Public Service Alliance of Canada is pleased to invite both Indigenous and non-Indigenous members from the four Atlantic Provinces to apply for a five-day in-residence advanced course called Unionism on Turtle Island.

The purpose of the training is to build meaningful, long-term relationships with Indigenous peoples inside and outside of our workplaces, with the aim of both supporting the decolonization of Indigenous peoples and increasing Indigenous peoples’ representation at work and in the union.

This Advanced course is open to all PSAC Atlantic Region members who have completed PSAC’s Talking Union Basics (TUB) course (either in person or virtual) or PSAC’s Our Communities, Our Union, Our Rights: An Introduction to the PSAC for Indigenous Members (OCOUOR) course. This course begins the process of providing a basic awareness of Indigenous Peoples’ history and culture as well as contemporary issues.

The course will take place from 9 a.m., Monday, April 15, to 12 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Membertou Trade & Convention Centre in Membertou, Nova-Scotia. Travel to Membertou will take place on Sunday, April 14, 2023.

There is a limited number of seats for the course, and all applications for the course will be reviewed and processed by the PSAC Atlantic Regional staff and Regional Executive Vice President.

Costs related to attending this course will be covered as per the PSAC Travel Policy, including travel, loss of salary, meals and incidentals and family care.

Members must complete the application form and submit it by February 2nd, 2024 at 12:00 p.m (AST).
