Last week, members of the Cape Breton University Faculty Association (CBUFA) went on strike. PSAC Atlantic fully supports the faculty, librarians, lab instructors, writing centre advisors, archivists, research chairs, and nursing practice educators at Cape Breton University.
We recognize that these workers are fighting to ensure a prosperous future for all students at the University. Workers are currently asking for improvements in benefits, stipends and workloads. They want progress with their overwhelming number of grievances in front of the employer, because there are more grievances at CBU than at any other university in Canada. And workers are asking for wages that keep up with inflation, so that they can afford to live.
We know that going on strike is always a last resort, and stand in solidarity with these workers. If you would like to show your support, you can do so in several ways; write to CBU administration that you support CBUFA’s position, join a picket line if you live in the area, and share information on social media about what’s happening.
