Andy Fillmore – Liberal MP for Halifax
Did the MP agree to meet with PSAC members when they requested a meeting?
Every time we requested a meeting with Mr. Fillmore, he agreed to meet with us.
Most MPs will meet with us, but it’s not always guaranteed. For example, :Liberal MP Dominique LeBlanc from the riding of Beausejour in NB has refused to meet with us for a few years.
Did the MP advocate on behalf of our members’ issues and concerns?
Yes. We met Mr. Fillmore to discuss various topics such as childcare, bargaining with Treasury Board and contracting out, just to name a few. Even though he represents the riding of Halifax, he helped us with our campaign to prevent contracting out at CFB Greenwood and he did advocate on our behalf.
Did the MP promote PSAC’s issues in the party’s caucuses?
Yes. As mentioned above, he would always give us his commitment to bring our issues forward to his caucus. Some of his caucus colleagues did confirm to us that they had been briefed by My. Fillmore on our meetings.
General overview: To summarize, we have built a positive working relationship with Mr. Fillmore. Although we don’t agree with his party on many important issues, he has proven to be an ally to us on the topics we discussed with him and he’s always available to meet with us upon request.

We can’t say so. In the last few weeks, the biggest employer in her riding, Serco, has laid off close to 30 employees which are PSAC members. To date, she has remained silent on the issue and didn’t offer to work with us on defending job in the local community of Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
