Welcome!

To: Delegates, Observers and Guests of the PSAC 9th Triennial Atlantic Regional Convention

From: Convention Host Committee

Greetings everyone!

The Host Committee of the 9th Triennial Atlantic Regional Convention is pleased to welcome all of you to St. John’s, NL! In order to make your convention a memorable one, we have organized the following activities for your enjoyment during your stay in St. John’s.

A Convention Social will be held on Friday, June 2 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Harbourview Salon E, F. For those wondering what to wear, this will be a semi-formal event. Hot and cold finger food will be provided with a cash bar on site.  We will be entertained by local band, The Celtic Fiddlers, playing a combination of N.L. traditional and Irish music. You will be able to enjoy our music, history and culture through their vocal and instrumental repertoire!

Get your comfortable shoes ready for Saturday night as we “Rally in the Alley” from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.. This event will give you a taste of the nightlife for which St. John’s is so famous, as well as experience some of our humor and culture.  You will learn some local step dancing, local songs, be welcomed into the Order of Screechers and enjoy a pub crawl on George Street. We will dance the night away to a variety of music provided by local bands. Tickets are $35.00, which includes three drink tickets, and will be available to purchase online, in advance, through Eventbrite. There are limited tickets available so book early.

For those not attending the Rally in the Alley, we also have a private club, Oiche (formerly Dusk), on George Street from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., with a local favorite band, Bic and the Ballpoints. The Rally in the Alley will end their adventure here and keep the party going. It’s gonna be a time!!!

During the convention, family members or friends can enjoy the sites of St. John’s and can take in various tours. One of the sites you can visit for tour information is McCarthy’s Party. To take advantage of a $5.00 discount from full or half day tours, use code: PSAC_JUNE.  There is shopping, restaurants, and other points of interest in the immediate hotel area.  More information will be provided in your convention bag and available at the Host table, that will be set up in the lobby of the Delta Hotel.

In addition, we are asking all participants to bring along a non-perishable food item or feminine hygiene products which will be collected at the Host Committee Table. In lieu of an item, a monetary donation can instead be made at the Host Committee Table. These will be donated to food banks across the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

We are looking forward to having a great Convention and a wonderful time in St. John’s.
