April 28th marks the National Day of Mourning – a day where we take the time to remember workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness due to workplace incidents.
This year, we are marking the Day of Mourning by remembering the Westray mine disaster on its 25th anniversary. We will be uniting under the slogan: Remember Westray. Enforce the Law. This April 28th, we are asking the federal government to take immediate action to ensure the enforcement of the corporate criminal negligence sections of the Criminal Code of Canada, otherwise known as the Westray Law.
I encourage you to take part in an event organized in your local community to commemorate the Day of Mourning. Event information can be found below.
