The Public Service Alliance of Canada extends its solidarity to the vast numbers of Albertans, including members of the PSAC, who have suffered losses during the recent flooding in Southern Alberta.  During a visit to Calgary last weekend, I witnessed the devastating impact of the floods on our members, their families and the communities. This is by far one of the most serious disasters to hit Canada in many years and PSAC is determined to work with all of our members and other labour organizations to coordinate a united response.

The Goose Bay Area Council held a food drive Wednesday, June 26, 2013, to collect donations for the Labrador Friendship Centre Food Bank and to promote the We Are All Affected campaign. The PSAC members filled six grocery carts with food donations to help replenish stocks. They also collected financial donations of over $500. Area Council Chair Brenda Linstead was interviewed on CBC Radio’s Labrador Morning about the food drive and the campaign. Have a listen here.

ST. JOHN’S  – The Public Service Alliance of Canada welcomes federal Minister of Labour Lisa Raitt’s initiative for proposing non-binding recommendations.  Clearly the Minister recognizes that a negotiated settlement is possible.  PSAC has offered clear relief to the employer’s concessionary demands. The union continues to be willing and available to reach a fair and reasonable settlement.
