National Public Service Week (NPSW) was created in 1992 to recognize the value of the services rendered by federal public service employees and to acknowledge the contribution of federal public service employees to the federal administration.  While public service workers are still not getting paid correctly, they still show up to work every day to deliver quality public services to Canadians. How will this government recognize its workers during the week of June 10-16 when it can’t even pay them correctly?

As your Director for LGBTQ2+ members on the PSAC Atlantic Regional Council, I will soon be joining many PSAC members and allies across Canada and people around the world to recognize the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. On behalf of the Atlantic Regional Council and the Council’s Education Committee, I’m thrilled to announce that we are now accepting applications for the much anticipated 2018 PSAC Atlantic School! The Atlantic School brings together union activists from the four Atlantic Provinces with a foundation in union education to advance their skills in the company of the region’s most activated members.  The school’s in-residence program is tailored to deliver advanced courses in both official languages, while immersing participants in union culture.

PSAC’s Atlantic Region is in the process of developing a plan that will shape our Education Program for the next three years, and we would love your help.  We are conducting a short online survey open to all PSAC members, whether or not you have taken a PSAC training course.  The survey takes only 10 minutes and will help ensure that our members receive the courses you require in the format that best fits your needs.  Anyone who takes the survey will be entered into a draw to win a Union Gift Pack full of locally made goods and essentials for being a union activist.
April 24, 2018 - 12:15pm •
Sisters and Brothers,   On April 28, the National Day of Mourning, we remember all those who have been killed or injured on the job.  In addition, this year we are focusing on harassment and violence in the workplace. Many area councils have already made arrangements to lay a wreath at their community event on behalf of our union. I encourage you all to attend an event near you.  There are various events organized in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador. (See event listing below.)
