PSAC women gathered recently at the Inn at the Pier to talk about their role in saving Canada Post, re-thinking child care, stopping Harper’s cuts and contacting the Senate on Bill C 377 as well as have a little fun. Actions on all these issues was achieved. Guest Speaker J. D. Samuelson spoke and showed her film “Women of Confederation”. We highly recommend this short animated film. Becka Viau, artist and activist, spoke on Saturday and inspired all with her commitment and wisdom on women’s and human rights issues.

April 28 is a Day of Mourning for thousands of Canadian workers killed or injured on the job each year, or who died from work-related diseases. On this day, we mourn, but it is also a time to insist that all levels of government do more to enforce existing health and safety laws and vigorously prosecute violations when a worker is killed or seriously injured. In 2013, 34 Nova Scotians lost their lives. For additional information please see attached poster.
