Pay Advocate Training on Phoenix-related issues
Are you interested in advocating on behalf members with Phoenix-related issues?
The PSAC Halifax Regional Office is pleased to offer Phoenix Pay Advocate Training from 9am-4pm on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Homewood Suites in Halifax, NS, to members throughout Nova Scotia.
This one-day training is being offered to support and augment the many Phoenix related initiatives taking place in the region and across the country, such as workplace lunch sessions, rallies, lobbying campaigns, and more.
The training will provide an overview of the Phoenix debacle and explain the strategy PSAC is adopting to address it. Participants will also learn advocacy skills and next steps for being a Pay Advocate in the workplace. It is important to note that pay advocates will not be responsible for resolving issues, but will work to ensure all members in their respective workplaces are aware of the processes that are available.
What is covered:
Mileage is paid at PSAC rates for travel over 40 kms one way.
Participants are entitled to a $50.00 per diem upon completion of the training.
Loss of salary (where applicable) will be reimbursed. Members must provide a shift schedule.
Family care will be reimbursed.
Accommodations may be provided depending on the distance members must travel.
Parking is included.
Costs for travel and loss of salary to attend the event must be preapproved by PSAC. Lunch will also be provided.
The training will take place Saturday, March 24, from 9am-4pm, at the Homewood Suites,1960 Brunswick St, Halifax.
