PSAC-Atlantic Regional Council ELECTED The members of the Atlantic Regional Council are elected geographically (NS, NB, NL, PE) and/or by constituency (Equity Group, non-Treasury Board, etc.) at PSAC-Atlantic’s Triennial Convention.  All Council members are assigned to work with Committees of the Council.  It is in the balance of these two functions that Council members define their roles and responsibilities.

The SJYWC raised $700 in support of the Ronald McDonald House for the Spare Some Love annual bowling fundraiser.  8 young workers attended. The four young workers on the SJYWC team were Brian Gallant (UTE 90001), Kayode Oluwadairo (TAUMUN), Leanne Moss (UNE 99242), Shad Rahman (TAUMUN).  CEIU local 90113 also submitted a team consisting of Allison Doyle, Karla White, Melissa Thomas and Melissa White. Thank you to PSAC Atlantic and to all of you who donated to support this great cause.

Call for Nominations for Regional Executive Vice-President and Alternate Regional Executive Vice-President ATLANTIC This is the official call for nominations for the position of Regional Executive Vice-President and Alternate Regional Executive Vice-President for the Atlantic.  Elections for these positions will be held at the Atlantic Regional Convention in Saint John, New Brunswick, June 23 to 25, 2017 A Nominations Form can be downloaded below.

Sisters Debbie Morris and Patsy Murphy taking part in the red dress campaign. The red dress campaign is an aesthetic response to the more than 1,000 missing and murdered aboriginal women in Canada.

Dear Sisters and Brothers, Although we need to celebrate the many achievements made towards equality, there remains a lot of work.  To this day, women are being denied equal pay for equal work and they are subject to discrimination and threats when they hold positions of power.  We can look in our own country where Alberta Premier Rachel Notley faces threats on a regular basis – because she’s a woman. Regardless of political affiliation, religious belief or even sexual orientation, women should be treated equally, period! Take action

Members of the Sydney Regional Women’s Committee presented a cheque of $1,500 from the PSAC Social Justice Fund to Every Woman’s Centre in Sydney, NS to help with the floods that happened last year.

Members of USGE-PSAC local 60001 in Miramichi, NB organized 3 sessions in January on the importance of Unions and the Labour Movement.  They served free lunch to over 70 of their members and showed a video on the importance of unions and the labour movement as a whole.  The event turned out to be a great success and the members said they felt proud and motivated by the educational movie they had watched.
