HALIFAX, NS – On International Human Rights Day, the Public Service Alliance of Canada will honour  the legacy of founding member Dr. J. Calbert (Cal) Best (1926-2007).  Dr. Best was an African Nova Scotian human rights and labour activist from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, the son of Dr. Carrie M. Best and Albert Theophilus Best.  He was co-founder and president of the Civil Service Association of Canada, the pre-curser to the Public Service Alliance of Canada.  On Tuesday, the Halifax Regional Office of the PSAC will dedicate its board room to Best’s life and work.

Supporting them in Sydney is a chorus of community members, local organizations, Veterans Affairs workers, unions, and every level of local government, all of whom will be out in force this Saturday at the Veterans March of Concern.
